TAUS EDGE LAMBDA CHI IN NAILBITER

Intramural Field (April 2) - The sun was shining and it was a good day to be a Tau, but not a fingernail was left intact in the stands at the end of the game. After winning home field advantage, our beloved team took the field in the opening game of the day. Things started off a little rocky with a couple of LXA hits into center field and a run. The Taus settled down though with a "catch-and-throw-em-out" double play from Darren Hyatt to Andy Moore. (On a side note, Moore caught the ball with his glove...not his ear.) In the bottom of the first the Taus struck early with two lead off walks and a single. The first five batters crossed before the Taus could be stopped.
"The Rocket" looked good despite being on the SGA-DL. His manager wasn't happy he missed the Senate, but the Taus were. "Rocket" recorded his fourth strikeout of the season fanning the batter in the top of the third. When interviewed, Chappell just stated "I threw him the high heat and he just couldn't handle it."
LXA began picking away at the lead but, ATO kept putting runs on and managed to stay in front. The Taus buckled down when owner and GM, John "Sharp Dressed Man" Buckner showed up. Lambda Chi came within one run in the top of the 6th. However, with runners on second and third and one out, Chappell was able to get the batter to pop out to first and then get the final out with a fly ball to Kerry "South Paw" Moore. The Taus held on for an 8-7 win.
Excitement filled the 'stadium' when the dust settled and the Taus reigned supreme. An excellent team effort was to blame for the win. The victory was sweet, but not as refreshing as the oranges and CapriSuns from Lauren "Team Mom" Elder.
With their recent success one can only wonder, can the Taus start a win streak? Being .500 on the season it looks like a possibility, but not without the support of the fanatical fan base that continues to support the Taus. ATO is 2-2-0 and ranked 4th in the Fraternity standings behind PiKapp, SigmaNu, and KA.

In other news, PiKapp railed Sigma Nu 11-0.

TAUS BLAST KAPPA SIG ON WAY TO WINNING RECORD

Intramural Field (April 10) - For the first time in a long time, the Taus have a winning record. With a crushing victory over Kappa Sig, the team improved to 3-2 on the year. "I can't believe it," says former Tau Michael "Ex-Prez" Blair, "why couldn't we win last year?" Currently, the Taus have marked up three more wins than last years' total, a whopping 0. This victory came with what seemed to be a biased umpire behind the plate. Whether biased or just blind, the Taus had to fight through a towering strikezone and off-the-mat called strikes.
The Sigs struck first posting two runs in the first. However, the charge was stalled by a few good defensive plays from the outfield. The Taus then started their comeback in the bottom of the 1st. "The Rocket" Chappell started off the inning with an infield double and the team seemed to be rolling. However, after falling behind 1-2 on a questionable pitch Andy "What-the-Hell-Happened" Moore was frozen with an inside pitch by the Sig pitcher. Yeah, that's right folks he struckout, somebody should talk to the coach about getting him some hitting practice. The rest of the inning went well with the Taus mounting three runs to hold a one run lead at the end of one.
"The Rocket" looked lights out in the second giving up only one run helped of course by some stellar defense. "Laser-Rocket-Arm" Hyatt gunned a runner down at second kepping runners out of scoring position. The Taus were struggling with the bats in the 2nd as they were held to a 1-2-walk-3 out inning. However, after again holding the Sigs in the third, the offense started warming up. After a couple hits, about a dozen walks, and several runs being scored the Taus never looked back.
The fourth inning was another shutdown innning for the Taus that included a 'redemption' double play for the 2nd baseman who struckout looking earlier in the game. Matt "Check Him For Steroids" Stark added another homer to his stat sheet with Will "Beer Belly" Sowell on base. Stark ended up having to slow down in the base path in order to keep from passing the runner in front of him. Clay "Corked Bat" Jones also had a yak when we launched a ball deep into centerfield. With some excellent base running Jones turned a triple into a homerun.
Unfortunatly, the Sigs were not as classy as our beloved Taus. Throughout the game they constantly tried to break the concentration of out players by yelling and screaming. The un-classyness finally escalated when the Sig catcher threw an elbow trying to clothesline Jones as he crossed the plate. Luckily, the Taus, like Jones, have the speed and agility to avoid such unsportsmanlike actions. This leads me to a new slogan for our team: "With Class We'll Still Kick Your..."
I encourgae everyone to come out to the final game of the season on Thursday April 11 at 6:00. Lets see if the Taus can continue their unprecedented (for them at least) win streak and finish the regular season with a 4-2 record.

Flag Football

Macon, GA (October 14)

It was a cool fall evening thursday as the Holy TAU's of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity took on Lambda Chi Alpha. The Taus scored on their opening drive thanks to long runs by Matthew "White Lightning" Stark and Eric "Broken Flipper" Reid. Reid, a freshman this year and pledge with alpha tau omega, has shown alot promise for the future of alpha tau omega football and is setting himself up as likely candidate for the Peter Alewine Award for Intramural Excelence. Lambda Chi answered with a drive of their own that ended in a questionable call and resulting spot. Nevertheless, the tau defense held it together and answered with two defensive touchdowns in a row. James "Big" Cox intercepted a shuttle pass from the Lambda Chi quarterback which he returned 8 yards for a touchdown. The next play, with defense back on the field, saw a White Lightning interception also returned for a touchdown, putting the game completely out of reach for the now hopeless Douchebags.
Sadly, Felix "Eggrole" Lin suffered a season ending facial injury during the game, however, the TAU coaching staff seemed to think that his shoes could be quickly filled given some practice and cash.
The TAUs are really showing some real promise for the year. Moving to 1-1 against greek teams we look foward to seeing what these guys are going to be able to do this season.

Roo Rah Rega, Signing off.
